After many months of completing an application for the ultimate goal of attaining a charter Montessori school, it is now a reality. I believe in the Montessori Philosophy so wholeheartedly that being able to provide this pedagogy into the elementary years, is truely a dream come true. In order to maintain the quality and integrity of the program, and because we are such a small school, it was a conscious
decision to start with kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade, and grow slowly and steadily from there, adding a grade level in consecutive years.
Who is eligible for the charter school?
Any child who is 5 years of age before October 15. A child who is born after September 30 of the school year must pass an assessment in order to have a completed application. All interested applicants may apply during open enrollment. The applications will be numbered as they are turned in. In the event there are more applicants than spaces, all names will be put into a hat and drawn out one at a time until all spaces are filled. The remaining names are then pulled and numbered, being placed on a waiting list in the order in which they were pulled.
What are the hours of the kindergarten class?
The kinder class will be from 12:10 to 2:50pm.
Is there an option to extend the day?
Yes, GMS offers class from 8:15-12:10, with before and after care from 7:30 to 5:30. These times that are outside of the state funded hours are available to families with the supplemental amount charged to the parents.
What is the class size?
Our lower elementary classrooms will have a maximum of 26 students total. Each classroom will have a lead teacher and assistant.
Will you remain true to the Montessori Philosophy of teaching?
Absolutely. Each child will be taught as an individual, the curicculum will not only satisfy the state standards, but your standards as a parent. The outdoors, geography, practical life, and culture that is not within the state standards for kindergarten are in the standards for Montessori, and for Greenhouse.
How do I enroll?
Enrollment packets are available on the "tuition and schedule" page. Applications will begin to be accepted at 9:00am on February 17 and closes February 28 at 12:00. After February 28, applications will be accepted and either put on a wait list, or placed, depending on availability.
Upon giving your enrollment packet, all paperwork MUST be completely filled in. Any missing information deems the application incomplete and not valid for submittal. A tour of the school is part of the enrollment process, either as an open house, or guided tour. It is important to be sure that there is a good fit for your child with Greenhouse Montessori.
How will our child get to school?
Greenhouse Montessori does not provide transportation, so families are expected to bring and pick up their students.
What is the dress code?
Students will be required to wear clothes that are approved by the school standards. Polos or button down shirts in pink, white, forest green, or navy, and pants, shorts, or skirts in tan, navy, or chocolate. Jackets and shoes may not have licensed characters on them, and close toed shoes are mandatory.
Do you have a hot lunch program?
At this time there is a hot lunch program available. We cater our lunches three times a week from Pita Di Vita. We are proud to be able to offer healthy, freshly made food for our students.
We are very proud to announce the recent approval
